About

Brainstorm Dance Company, founded in Brazil in 2014 and based in France since 2022, creates work that opens spaces for dialogue and reflection on human relationships. Led by Juliana Kis, the company views dance as a celebration of life and a call of freedom. Its language blends hip-hop and contemporary dance with music, voice, and poetry, building a multidisciplinary and multicultural identity. The company also engages with themes such as gender equality and social transformation, while expanding access to dance for diverse audiences.

The company has received several prestigious awards, including the L’Oréal Fund for Women Award and the Audience Prize at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques de Cergy. Its works have been presented in France and internationally, on Culturebox TV, as well as on stages such as the Théâtre du Châtelet (Festival Moving Forward) and On Danse Chez Vous at the Théâtre National de Chaillot.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - JULIANA KIS

Juliana Kis is a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director, born in Brazil and based in Paris. With nearly 20 years of experience in contemporary and hip-hop dance, she has collaborated on international projects across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the United States, including the Opéra National de Paris, the Centre Pompidou, and the Opéra Grand Avignon. Since 2014, she has been leading Brainstorm Dance Company, with two completed works and a third in development. Her work explores themes of gender-based violence, female empowerment, and social transformation, using dance as a tool for reflection and collective awareness.

CULTURAL ACTION

Led by experienced dancer-educators, our cultural action offers hip-hop and contemporary dance workshops that foster connection, creativity, and social exchange across diverse audiences (schools, community centers, students, specialized institutions, and intergenerational groups). Through movement and creative practice inspired by the company’s work, it encourages artistic expression, raises awareness of social issues, and uses dance as a tool for personal and social transformation.
